Pretty in Pink

 Hey there. I had a request for a hot pink, floral retirement card. So... I got busy watercoloring a few panels in shades of pink and green. I did a bit of splatter with gold, metallic watercolors then let the panels dry.

Using the Altenew Fantasy Floral die I cut the rose and leaves from the watercolor panels. I also cut a tag from a metallic gold card stock, popped it up with a bit of foam tape and glued on the rose/leaf cluster.  I trimmed the final panel and adding a bit of washi tape in a metallic gold dot. Then heat embossed with gold detail powder to a strip of vellum using a Congratulations sentiment from Papertrey Ink. I tucked the vellum greeting in the leaves and secured to the background panel with tape on the back. After adding the pink baker's twine to the tag, I attached the panel to a white top-folding card base with more foam tape. My matching envelope was made with my score board from some double-sided scrapbook paper.

AAA Cards Challenge #224

 Hello. This is such a fin color palette to play with. I hope you will join us on the AAA Cards Challenge and make a card of your own.

I felt like the Halftone Squares stamp set from Altenew was the perfect spot set to ground my image. Then I stamped and colored the elf image form Ellen Hutson, mounted it with foam tape and mounted the greeting from Kerri Bradford for a bright CAS Christmas card.

Altenew Pink Foliage

Hey there. I watched two videos this week. The first one was Tim Holtz watercolor over a Distress background. The second was Jennifer McGuire using a scoreboard for a background. I wanted to roll these together with the September Altenew challenge.

I started by cutting a panel of white cardstock. I should have used watercolor paper but didn't. I smooched some Distress pealed paint ink on a silicone mat, spritzing with water and dabbing my cardstock into it. Drying between layers of ink. Then I stamped Altenew's Leaf Canopy set with Versafine black ink, heat set and water colored the leaves in with two colors of pink.

Using my scoring board I created a diamond pattern to replicate the fence in the inspiration photo on the stamped panel and a top-folding, white card base.

I stamped and heat embossed the greeting from the same set on vellum and tied it to the stamped panel by wrapping it with metallic gold thread. Then mounted it to the scored card base with foam tape.  Finally, I used a bit of metallic, gold watercolor paint to create the gold splatter.

AAA Cards Challenge #223

Hello. We are making Sympathy cards for the AAA Cards Challenge that starts today. I know this can be difficult for some so I hope the design team can inspire you.

This is a no-layer or one-layer card. I started by masking off an area towards the bottom of the card and filling it in with a little ink blending. Then using the Sizzix Stars & Birds die I created a stencil and blended the same ink colors through creating the flying birds. 

When the ink was dry I used the Simon Says Stamp, Cleanline Everyday set to heat emboss the With Sympathy with gold detail powder.

AAA Cards Challenge #222

Hey there as we cap off summer we want to share a moodboard challenge with you on the AAA Cards Challenge.

 

Something I have realized in the last year is even when I enter a challenge the card needs to make sense and i need to really like it. Today my card is not the first one I made for this challenge. The first one was a one layered card that was okay but I didn't love it. So I made this one.

It has more details but still very CAS. I used the Make Marks stencil from Stamplorations to anchor the bandaid box from Papertrey Ink. The greeting is also from PTI, Just Sentiments: Get Well. A few touches of glimmer, shading, shine and we are finished.

AAA Cards Challenge #221

Hey there! We have a new challenge up on the AAA Cards blog today. We are working with small and few. With an optional twist of bugs.

My card is a one-layer card where I practiced ink-layering. I strated by using my Echo Park hexagon confetti die to create a stencil that I blended a light, yellow ink through. Then using the Hey Honey set from Sugar Peas set I stamped and embossed the bees. The greeting is also from the same stamp set.

Birthday Cupcake

Hello and happy Friday to you! I was playing with the Mini Delight: Cupcake and die set from Altenew. Such a fun little cupcake with great detail. I thought the Inspiration Challenge on the Altenew blog was a great way to start,

I stamped my cupcake and die cut 5 images to layer up. Then I stamped the happy birthday from Papertrey Inks KIS Birthday set to create my 3 rectangles of color for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Die cutting a scalloped circle from vellum I mounted the cupcake to the card front. Added a small tag stamped from the Bold Sentiments set and heat embossed it with clear powder. I thought this would be a cute tag for the cupcake and tied it to the image with a bit of coral twine. I left plenty of white space for the CAS part of my design.
