Snarky Birthday

Hey guys, there is a new challenge up on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog. It is my very favorite kind of card, Clean and Simple.

My card started with Neenah Desert Storm card stock cut into a top folding card base. I then used the Snarky Mix & Match Messages from Hero Arts to stamp the greetings with four colors of ink. Then masked the greetings and stamped the stripes. This was simpler by using the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform. Finally I used some Nuvo Crystal Drops for an accent. The color of the drops didn't show up so I colored them with a tan permanent marker. 

My hubby was giving me a hard time about how plain my first card was. So that is like a challenge for me to step my game up a little. My second card uses Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I started by using the smooth side of the panel and stamping out the greeting from the same Hero Arts set in Versafine black ink. The cake plate and candles are from the Birthday Wishes set from The Stamp Market also stamped in black ink. Then I took watercolor pens and painted in the rainbow stripes. I added a little yellow and Wink of Stella to the candle flames. I trimmed a little off of my panel and mounted it to a top folding, A2 black card base. This technically is not CAS but I wanted to show you options for the Hero Arts Snarky Mix & Match Messages.

Recycled Garbage

Hey there, I know this is crazy but I literally went out to my trash pile and tore off a piece of corrugated cardboard and packaging from a old Kindle box to create this card along with an old book page.

Now what prompted this scrounging was a new challenge on Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Recycle Something. My vison was a valentine or wedding card. This collage thing is so new to me. I just started cutting hearts out with the Lawn Fawn nesting dies and creating the Distress Ink water color background with a clear stamping block. The rest was all try and error while trying to create texture. I used the "love" die from Simon Says Stamp die cut from some brushed metallic gold and black card stocks.

I am loving this style of card. So fun to just keep adding till it feels right. Again this is pretty clean and simple by some standards but pretty busy for the CAS girl. This also fit the TimeOut Challenge of "loving" and I certainly loved making it! It fits the HLS Mixed Media. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

My card today was super easy and came together so quickly. I was gifted a couple of journaling cards a while back and since I am not a scrap- booker I thought lets make cards with these. I think they might be from Pinkfresh Studio but not sure. I will post the second card down below as it did not fit our "cloudy" criteria but was made with another journaling card.

So I started with the journaling card and stamped the greeting from Impression Obsessions Watercolor Butterflies set in Versafine black ink. Die cut a few clouds from a Papertrey Ink Die and popped one up with foam tape. Then just added the journaling card to a 110 lbs, white top folding A2 card base with foam tape.

SSS Card and Envy

Hey there. There is a brand new challenge over on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This weeks challenge is all about creating a card and matching envelope. 

 

I started with a natural ivory, top folding card base. I then cut the "birthday" from a 3.75 by 5" piece of printed paper. The birthday is from a Sizzix Word Block Celebration die set. I then cut the Simon Says Stamp happy die from five layers of card stock and glued them together. Using the Tiny Words Simon Says Stamp set to create the "celebrate you" banner. I used the same paper to create and envelope to match the card. The We R Memory Keepers envelope punch board would be great to make your matching envelopes for all your cards.

I always love to add a second project to my blog post so by visiting my blog you get another project idea.

This project reminded me of a type of stationary I used to buy a long time ago. Where the card actually folds in to create the envelope. I started with a 8.5 by 8.5" piece of red card stock. From it I created an A2 envelope but did not glue it together. Then I die cut the large heart from a Lawn Fawn nesting die set from the front of the envelope. Next I cut an A2 card base from Neenah Desert Storm card stock 5.5 by 8.5" and lined the inside with a 4 by 5.25" white Neenah panel. I die cut two of the hearts from the front of the desert storm card and one in-between size heart from a scrap of the red card stock. Then on a scrap of white I stamped the greeting from the My favorite Things set "From the Heart" set in Versafine black ink. Now lets assemble...

Open the envelope flat with the front down on the table. Next place the Desert Storm card over the heart hole gluing it in place. Glue the white panel to the inside of the desert storm card and the red heart to the front cover. Finally add the greeting to the card front. I wish I did videos. Maybe in the future and hopefully the pictures will help you with the layout. The fun part of this is it folds to go in the mail with a heart window for you to address the envelope. Wow that was long, sorry.

New Technique...

Good morning. So if you have ever checked out my work you know I am a "clean and simple" girl all the way. Well part of my goals for 2019 is to stretch myself to areas I am not always comfortable with. Well todays card is all about mixed media. This is an area that is foreign to me.

Now by some peoples standards this is pretty tame but for me there is a whole lot going on. My main focus is the Shine set from PinkFresh Studio. I used ink, stamps, watercolor, thread, sewing, background paper, doilies, enamel dots, embossing and die cuts.

 I was using the PinkFresh Studio photo for my inspiration and color way. They have a challenge going on their blog. Both the Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday Challenges are using something new. Well this technique is very new to me also the enamel dots and doilies. The TimeOut challenge is about loving and the XO fits that.

Tueday Transformation Tie-dye

Hello. So today's card went back to July 2012. The PTI Challenge was a tie-dye technique. We used alcohol markers to color an area then used rubbing alcohol to blend and let the colors run together. 

I used the alcohol markers on the white card stock then spritzed it with rubbing alcohol letting the colors run down the page. After it was dry I used the heart prints die to cut the heart pattern. Saving some of the hearts to stack and glue together. I backed the card front with a white panel and after heat embossing the greeting from the Keep It Simple: Wedding on a vellum strip stitched it around the card with metallic thread. I then added the two stacked hearts to the card front.

The TimeOut Challenge theme is Loving and this card fits the bill for that. Thank you for stopping by, Sue.

CASology: #326 Frozen

Hello we have a fun new challenge up on the CASology Challenge Blog this morning. Our new cue card is:

My card is a simple 110lbs white, top folding card base. I stamped the Hero Arts snowman in Versafine black ink and colored his scarf, nose and holly with my Arteza Realbrush pens. I then die cut the thanks three times with The Stamp Markets Double Take die. Stacked and glued them together to give the card some dimension.

It is a pretty straight forward card. I liked the way the white "thanks" looked against the line image.
