AAA Birthday Card Challenge #55

Woop Woop!! Have you made it through all twelve months of our birthday challenges on the AAA Birthday Card blog??  This is the last challenge for the year, "add a tag" challenge.

Sometimes you just need a great prompt to get those ideas flowing. I hope our monthly challenges were able to do that for you. My card started with choosing a color palette and swiping ink pads across a piece of white cardstock. I then die cut the tag shape and the letters from a Papertrey Ink alpha die set. Set the letters aside while we stamp the cake. Placing the Concord and 9th cake stamp from the Happy Day set in my stamp positioner and stamping it in black ink on a white panel. Then leaving the panel and stamp in place, I lined up the tag where I wanted it and stamped the cake again on the tag.

I then die cut several sets of letters to create the stacked look. Placing them back into the tag, adding the twine and mounting it to the white cake panel with foam tape.

I forgot I misted water over my inked panel to create that splotchy effect before the stamping the cake. Then mounted it all to a top folding white card base. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #55

Hey there. We have big words coming your way with our new challenge for the month of November on the AAA Birthday Card Challenge.

This is a super simple birthday card to create or mass produce. Start with a white panel 4" by 5.25". Stamp the big greeting from Altenew's Modern Greetings set. I chose black but you could go wild with the colors. I then added the streamer tail form Concord and 9ths, Birthday Balloon set. Using a kraft top folding card base I added the washi tape to the left side and mounted the stamped panel with foam tape.

Like I said change your ink and washi colors, and you could have a whole rainbow of cards.  Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #54

Hello. What are your favorite colors? Hot pink and orange come to mind for me. Well, we hope you will share a birthday card with us on the AAA Birthday Card Challenge with your favorite colors.

Taking a white panel, I masked off the top area with post-it tape and then blended pink ink into orange. I then die cut my blended panel with the Bold Text 1 set from Sizzix. I replaced my mask and stamped the candle from Stamplorations' Kathryn's Big Wish set in black ink on both the blended panel and a white top folding card base. To accent the candle and greeting I added a bit of striped washi tape. Glued the panel to the white card base and popped up a small greeting from Creative Expressions Wordies.

We will be joining up with our sister blog AAA Cards for the first two weeks of this challenge. Below is the ink blended card I made for the CAS Challenge on the AAA Cards Blog.

I hope you get a chance to play with both of these challenges this month. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #53

Hey there. Sometimes male cards can be hard to create. Deer seems to be my go-to animal for guy cards and with a new animal card challenge up on the AAA Birthday Card blog this was my chance.

Kraft cardstock also tends to work its way in to my guy cards. lol. So starting with a kraft panel I stamped the Yuletide Deer from Stamplorations in four shades of brown. The greeting is from Papertrey Ink, Keep it Simple: Birthday. After trimming the panel, I matted it with dark brown cardstock and mounted it to a top folding kraft card base with foam tape.

Can't wait to see the zoo we all create with our herd of animals! Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #52

Hello. Man, this year is flying by... The challenge on the AAA Birthday Card blog is Anything Goes this month.

I have a very special young man in my life that turns ten this year. He is such a bright light in our lives, so a bright card was in order. I started with a white panel that I stamped with the Wonky Backdrops set from Ellen Hutson. Then using the Sizzix, Celebration Words: Block die set I cut out the shaker window greeting. Using the Papertrey Ink Smooth Numbers set I die cut the "10" out of dark blue cardstock, stacking and gluing them together and adding glossy accents.

This was such a fun card to create. I hope you will join us in the challenge. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #51

Hey there. The AAA Birthday Card Challenge has a new challenge up today. Create a beautiful birthday card with butterflies.

My card started with a white panel and the Showers of Butterflies stencil from Stamplorations. I ink blended three colors of ink, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Passion and Summer Sun over the stencil. Then misted with shimmer spritz and set aside to dry. Then using the Concord and 9th Just saying die I cut and stacked several greetings to give dimension. The happy birthday is from Creative Expression Wordie packages and vellum butterfly is cut with a Martha Stewart punch.

I saw Julie Ebersole use Stickels glitter glue the other day along the edge of the layers of her card. So I tried it here. I love the subtle effect.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will share your butterfly, birthday cards with us on the AAA Birthday Card Challenge.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #50

Hello and happy summer to you! We are going to be playing with watercolors this month on the AAA Birthday Card Challenge.

I used metallic watercolors in blues and greens across a watercolor panel and just the green across another scrap of paper. Setting aside to dry. I die cut a white panel of cardstock with the Folkdance cover-plate from Simon Says Stamp, trimmed and glued it to the watercolor panel. Using the green piece and white cardstock I die cut two sizes of circles. The greeting and heart are from Simon Says Stamp, Greeting Mix 1.  My final step was to add some Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the little heart.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will join us for this watercolor challenge. Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #49

So is it spring where you are at? I hope so. We have a fun new balloon birthday challenge up for you on the AAA Birthday Card blog.

I started this card by creating my own stencil from the Papertrey Ink shaker balloon die. Then on a top folding white card base I ink-blended the three balloons. The strings were free-handed with a black marker. Then using the Honeybee Tailgate alphabet die set I cut out the hooray. Cutting several layers from scraps to pop up the letters. The happy birthday banner is from the Tiny Words set from Simon Says Stamp.

It is a simple card with a pretty big punch from the colorful balloons. I am looking forward to seeing your balloon creations. thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #48

Hello. It is birthday card challenge time on the AAA Birthday Card blog and we are going to layer it up this month!

Although this card reads CAS because of the white space it has layers of ink, heat embossing, cardstock, washi tape, glitter paper and a cover-plate. This is a ton of layers for me. Lol. I started with a top folding card base that I ran through my die cut machine with Stamplorations' Circles All Over cover-plate. I really like cover-plates that don't cut the edges. I then ran a strip of gold dotted washi tape vertically down the front.

Using some scraps of white cardstock, I stamped and embossed the mini cupcake from Altenew. Then die cut the happy and cupcake many times to pop-up the images. I also cut several postage frames from the Papertrey Ink die set. All were layered up to create dimension. adding the glitter paper happy to the top of the stack. I stamped the greeting from the same Altenew set in teal ink on teal cardstock. Assembled the pieces and mounted it to the card base.

Layers have always been tricky for me. I am never sure when it is too much so I can't wait to see you inspiration. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #47

Hey there. We have a new challenge up on the AAA Birthday Card Challenge blog.

I wanted to take the stripes and dots and give it a little twist with my Trigonometry set from Altenew.  So after selecting my palette I stamped the dotted and stripe triangles on the left side of my white card panel. Then added a few dots from the Ellen Hutson, Bokeh Dots stamp set. The deer image is from Stampers Anonymous, Modern Christmas stamped in black. I wound some twine around my panel before mounting it to a caramel card base with foam tape. Finally adding a few black glossy Nuvo drops. The greeting is also from the Trigonometry set.

I love cards that have that graphic feel to them. I want to thank you for stopping by and I hope you plan to join us on this challenge. Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #46

Happy February to you! We have a new challenge up on the AAA Birthday Card blog. We are playing with stencils this month.

I was experimenting with a few new products, Deco Foil, Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo and Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I started with a panel of watercolor paper, wet it and tapped on the shimmer powders. I would mist my paper and tap on more powder till I was happy with the outcome. Then let the paper dry overnight. The next day I took the Delicate Links stencil and added the gel over my background of shimmer powder through the stencil. Let the gel dry and rubbed my gold foil over the gelled area.

I trimmed down my panel and stamped the greeting from Papertrey Ink's KIS Birthday in coral ink quickly heat embossing with clear detail powder on a white cardstock strip. I used one of the foiled scraps to accent my greeting and wrapped gold thread around it before attaching to my white card base with foam tape.

It was fun to try a few new techniques on this card. I hope you will share your stenciled cards with us this month on the blog. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #45

Hello and Happy New Year!  Today is my first post for the AAA Birthday Card Challenge as part of the team. Our challenges run an entire month and encompass any style as long as it is a birthday card.

This first one is the easiest anything goes. I used a printed watercolor panel from Stamplorations as my jumping off point. I masked off the top and left side then ink blended away. I misted a bit of water over the panel and blotted the excess to create the mottled effect.  Using various colors of ink, I stamped the greeting form SSS Cleanline Everday set. Then stamped the final time and heat embossed it in gold detail powder. I trimmed down the panel and mounted it to a white card base that I had added a strip of gold washi tape with foam tape. To finish off I added a few gold, pearl drops.

I am hoping you will join us for the "anything goes" birthday challenge. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #44

Hey there. Well, I have a surprise for you...I will be joining the AAA Birthday Card Challenge in 2023.  I am super excited to join this wonderful team of creative ladies. For our introduction we were asked to create a card with the December theme of embossing.

I started with a natural white, top folding card base that I dry embossed with a holly embossing folder from Cuttlebug. Then I die cut a tag from watercolor paper inking the raised portion of the holly folder with a Pealed Paint ink and lightly misting the paper with water before running it through my die cut machine. then I took a wet paintbrush and moved the moss ink around the holly leaves. Using the splat technique and brown Distress ink to age the tag a bit. When it was dry I added the greeting from SSS Cleanline Everyday set and some red glitter Stickels. Then creating a red glitter hole enforcer and adding black twine I attached to the card front with foam tape.

I am looking forward to the year of fun birthday card challenges and I really hope you will join us because really, we all need to send more birthday cards!!
