AAA Cards Challenge #191

Hey there. I was super excited to be asked to be a guest designer on the AAA Cards Challenge this week. We will be making a no layer card with hexagons. I had so much fun with this that I made three cards.

All my cards are 110lb, white top folding A2 card bases. Using the Honey Bee Stamps nesting hexagon dies I cut a stencil from card stock. Then using Distress Ink I blended two colors in each hexagon overlapping them as I went. I then used a Block Alphabet die set from Papertrey Ink to cut out my "hb" window. This gives you the contrast color (white) while still keeping your card one layer. Then I added the Happy Birthday from a Concord and 9th set in dark purple ink.

This card uses the Happy Hexagon set from Papertrey Ink with just straight up stamping.

My final card uses another stencil that I created with the Echo Park Hexagon Confetti die. I just ink blended a little yellow ink in a small area through the stencil. Then stamped and heat embossed the bee from the Papertrey Ink Honey Bee set in black ink with clear detail powder. Added in a darker yellow for the bee's body.

I hope you will dust off your no layer skills and join us on the AAA Cards Challenge with some hexagon magic.
Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

CASology #391: Photo

Hello. Are you up for a new challenge today? Our new cue card on the CASology Challenge blog is up today.

My card for this challenge started with a top folding A2, kraft card base that I stamped the robot and greeting in black ink. The stamp set is Big Robots from Stamplorations. I then die cut 4 white slide frames from white card stock and glued them together form some dimension. Using the same stamp set I stamped and heat embossed the word smile on the frame.

Placing the frame on the card front I marked the inside corners with a pencil and then colored only that portion of the robot with alcohol markers. After gluing the frame to the card front I coated the robot with Wink of Stella.

I hope you will take some time to read through our rules and join us in this fun challenge. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

Trifecta Cardmaking with Sue

Hello. I am back for another addition of the Cardmaking Trifecta.  Stamps, stencils and stickers all rolled into one card times three. Today's cards are some of my favorite to be created with this technique so far...

On a white A2 card base I used the Delicate Links stencil and soft gray ink to blend a background. Using the Lotus Love stamp set, I stamped the water images in amethyst ink and the greeting in black ink over the water images. Then on water color cardstock I stamped several of the floral and leaf images and painted them. When they were dry, I covered them with Wink of Stella and fussy cut them out. Placing the Newsprint Background Bits #1 sticker on amethyst card stock and  mounting to card front with foam tape. The flowers and leaves were glued over the sticker and a few Nuvo drops were added to accent.

This card started with a white panel that I ink blended the flowers with three colors of ink with the Bloom Silhouettes stencil. Then I covered the panel with the Newsprint Background Bits #1 stickers and trimmed the panel down mounting it to a white card base with foam tape. Using the Lotus Love and Wooded stamp sets I stamped the sentiment strip and mounted it to the card front with foam tape.

With my final card I was going for the mixed media feel again. I started with a scrap of white card stock that I stenciled the word Hugs from the Hello & Company stencil in orange ink. I then stamped some random hearts in rose ink placing the Mixed Media Background 1 clear sticker over and trimmed to fit the size of the sticker. Using the Art Marks 2 stamp set I stamped a top folding, white A2 card base and mounted the sticker panel to card with foam tape. I then die cut a series of hearts, glued them together for dimension and stamped the greeting from the Literary Caffeine-ations.  After punching a hole through the heart, tying a jute knot and mounting to the card front with foam tape the card was complete.

I hope you enjoyed this journey through the Cardmaking Trifecta and will plan on challenging yourself. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

CASology #390: Outside

Hey there! We have a brand new challenge up today on the CASology Challenge Blog. This one was close to my heart with the outside cue. Which is a good thing because with our occupation we better enjoy the outdoors.

This was fun idea I had in my head. I started with a stencil from Stamplorations, Hello and Company stencil. Using 4 colors of ink I blended the colors for the Happy Day through the stencil. I then used a cloud stencil from Stampin' Up! to create the sky. The Avery Elle Glamper Camper set was a gift from my daughter and fits our outdoor obsession. I added hints of color to the camper with alcohol markers. I love how you can layer them over dye ink without smudges.

There we go with a super simple one layer card. I hope you can join us on this super fun "outside" challenge. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

I will also be entering this card in these two challenges.
Nothing says "move" like a house on wheels. Lol.
