Color Throwdown #773 Guest Designer

Hey there. I was chosen last week as the winner of the Color Throwdown challenge. So, they asked me to guest design this challenge. This is such a fun color palette.

My card started with an ink blended panel that I applied glitter over with a clear adhesive sheet.

I then die cut the panel with the Spellbinders Santa's Workshop die. I also cut the base and globe from metallic gold cardstock. I wanted the holes from the background to show through with the gold color.

The village was cut with an old Memory Box village die three times from white cardstock, glued and layered together. I trimmed the village to fit in the snow globe.

The greeting is from Kerri Bradford Studio set Bundle Up and heat embossed in gold detail powder. I curved the greeting to match the curve in the snow globe. I wrapped some gold thread around the knob on the top of the globe to add a bit more gold sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you will join us for this fun challenge on the Color Throwdown blog.

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #527

Well hello. Here we are wrapping up a year of fabulous challenges on the CAS Colours and Sketches blog. This challenge will run till January 1, 2024. So you have a month to look back over this past year's challenges, pick a sketch and/or a color combo that inspired you and create a seasonal card. I went ahead and combined challenges #501 and #507 to create my seasonal card.

I wanted to create in essence a one-layer card by in-laying my ink blended letters in the stamped card front.

Stamps: The Stamp Market Tiny Trees
Dies: Sizzix Alphanumeric Stretch Upper
Ink: Stampin'Up
Cardstock: 110 lbs White

I hope you can find some time to play along with us for this final challenge of the year. This will be my final post for the CAS Colors and Sketches blog as I will be stepping down. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #55

Woop Woop!! Have you made it through all twelve months of our birthday challenges on the AAA Birthday Card blog??  This is the last challenge for the year, "add a tag" challenge.

Sometimes you just need a great prompt to get those ideas flowing. I hope our monthly challenges were able to do that for you. My card started with choosing a color palette and swiping ink pads across a piece of white cardstock. I then die cut the tag shape and the letters from a Papertrey Ink alpha die set. Set the letters aside while we stamp the cake. Placing the Concord and 9th cake stamp from the Happy Day set in my stamp positioner and stamping it in black ink on a white panel. Then leaving the panel and stamp in place, I lined up the tag where I wanted it and stamped the cake again on the tag.

I then die cut several sets of letters to create the stacked look. Placing them back into the tag, adding the twine and mounting it to the white cake panel with foam tape.

I forgot I misted water over my inked panel to create that splotchy effect before the stamping the cake. Then mounted it all to a top folding white card base. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Cards Challenge #254

Today we have an interesting Christmas color combo for you on the AAA Cards Challenge. Black, White and Gold.

I only ever remember making one other Christmas card in this color combo. I ended up making 4 cards before I was pleased with my card today.

Starting with a white panel I stamped the snowman image from the Unity
set, In the Meadow in black ink. Then again on a black panel I stamped him in Versamark ink and heat embossed him in gold tinsel powder. Using my Tonic square dies I cut out his face. Then stamped and heat embossed the greeting from the Colorado Craft Company, Let it Snow set on the white panel. I popped the die cut square up with foam tape before lining it up on the white panel. Then trimmed my white panel down and mounted to the black card base.

When using a dark card base, I always add a white panel inside the card to add your personal message.

Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

Altenew November Challenge

Hey there! I was looking at the Altenew Inspiration Challenge for this month and trying to think how I could use the colors for a Christmas card.

I only have one Altenew Christmas set but the geometric sets have served me well in the past, so I thought maybe I could build some whimsical trees.

Both cards were created using the Simple Shapes, Festive Poinsettia stamp sets and Linear Crossroads die.  The second card also uses the Bold Alphabet die set. I also used a layout that Joy Taylor had posted a card long ago. I wanted to make sure she got credit for the great layout.

I love to play along with the Altenew Challenges and finding a way to put my own twist on the inspiration photo.

AAA Cards Challenge #253

Hello and hope you are ready for a peek at fall with our new challenge on the AAA Cards blog.

I don't know why but that photo in the bottom right corner just spoke to me.  I had purchased some alcohol inks for the first time that week. Must have been a match made in heaven. lol.

I have played a little using alcohol markers but this was my first time to try regular alcohol ink bottles. I used a piece of photo paper and a straw to create my panel. I then die cut the Leaf Silhouette from Papertrey Ink. I curved the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp, Greeting Mix 1 set and stamped it on olive ink to echo the leave shape.

I hope you will be inspired to join us for the fun, fall foliage challenge. Below is a reminder of the rules for CAS.

CAS Colours and Sketches #525

Hey there! November is here and we have a new color challenge on the CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge.

Since at this point, I have made very few Christmas cards I decided to crank out a few for this month's challenges. First up we are going to play with a few Sizzix snowflakes from the Paper Snowflakes Mini.

I used the Papertrey Ink, Watercolor Wonder set to create the color washes in our color palette. The greeting is from the Hello Bluebird Typed Christmas set.

My final addition is the white, gloss Nuvo drops. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will carve out the time to join us with this challenge.

AAA Birthday Card Challenge #55

Hey there. We have big words coming your way with our new challenge for the month of November on the AAA Birthday Card Challenge.

This is a super simple birthday card to create or mass produce. Start with a white panel 4" by 5.25". Stamp the big greeting from Altenew's Modern Greetings set. I chose black but you could go wild with the colors. I then added the streamer tail form Concord and 9ths, Birthday Balloon set. Using a kraft top folding card base I added the washi tape to the left side and mounted the stamped panel with foam tape.

Like I said change your ink and washi colors, and you could have a whole rainbow of cards.  Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

AAA Cards Challenge #252

Hello. If you have not started your Christmas cards now might be a great time to get going on them. We have a new challenge on the AAA Cards blog and it might not be a Christmas challenge but a cool blue color palette to work with.

Starting with a top folding white card base I masked off the tree shape and ink blended a soft blue ink. Then using various greetings and colors of ink I stamped the Technique Tuesdays, Jingle All the Way stamp set. The falala is from Keri Bradford Studio, Wrapped set.

Super simple stamping for a fun CAS, one-layer, Christmas card. I hope you will join us for the cool, color scheme challenge!

Altenew Beauty

Hello. It is a damp, cold morning here in Iowa. I need to create a little sunshine in my office today. I decided to play one more time with Altenew's gorgeous challenge today.

I love to play with a combo of pink and orange. Hannelie's photo has those beautiful colors for our inspiration.

This was a no stamp card. I used Altenew's Peony Dream 3D Die set and the Versatile Greeting 2 die set. I ink blended the challenge colors on some Bristol Smooth cardstock then splattered it with metallic watercolors before cutting the flower layers. This card was all about texture with the vellum ribbon and Cuttlebug embossing folder in the background. I hope you enjoy all the details.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Anything Goes. So this card fits the bill there too. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.
