CASology #356: Faith

Hello. Well I am gearing up for sending out all of my Christmas cards. So today's new cue card will help me out.

The CASology Challenge Blog has a "faith" challenge for the next two weeks. I started by wetting down several water color panels and using a large brush just creating broad strokes with my Arteza brush pens. I created several panels at the same time to save time. After the panels were dry I heat embossed the greeting with gold embossing powder. I trimmed the panel and mounted it to a top folding aqua card. This is a really quick way to produce a lot of cards quickly.

Distressed Card Stock

Hey there. I wanted to share a quick technique with you that was inspired by the challenge over on the Less is More blog, That's Torn It. This is a really old technique that I had forgot all about till I saw their post. You start with a piece of card stock and crumple it up, open it and re-crumple it.

You will continue this process till you see the layers start to separate.  Then flatten it out the best you can and peal the edges apart. This creates a flannel like texture to the card stock surface.

Using the die from the Essentials by Ellen Holiday Characters set, I die cut the stocking and some red fun foam from my flannel card stock. Then I stamped the stocking and greeting in Versafine black ink on a top-folding, A2 white card base. Layered the flannel die cut over the stamping. My picture does not do it justice it is so cute in person.

SSS Wednesday Challenge: Thanks/Thanksgiving

I am so honored again to serve as a guest designer on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog. This week we will be using Hero Art's products to create a "Thank You/Thanksgiving" card. 

I wanted to challenge myself to use what I had. So I took out my Hero Art's sets and tried to think of them in a new light. I used the Candy Stripe Background and Thank You For Being My Friend(retired) set from Hero Arts. Using my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform I mounted the background stamp and inked it with a custom Kalidacolor ink pad. Stamping then rotating the paper 90 degrees and stamping again to create a fun plaid on Neenha Desert Storm card stock. I thought it created a fun flannel look to the card front. I used some scraps of the same card stock to die cut the leaves with my Gemini Junior die cut machine. Then stamping the greeting and mounting it to the card front with foam tape.

Tearing a Sketch

Hello and happy Monday to you! I will admit I post way more cards on my Instagram account than this blog. It is just so quick and easy to just give the details. lol.

The cards I made today were pretty quick to put together with printed paper, a punch, simple stamping and a few die cuts.

Both of the cards used the same supplies. I started with a top-folding A2 white card base. Then taking a piece of printed paper from The Paper Studio cut to 3.35" by 2.27" I tore it at a diagonal to mimic the sketch photo and punched the snowman from the top right corner. The punch is an old one from Stampin' Up. Using the Penny Black Merry and Joy die I cut four from black card stock, stacked and glued them together. I glued the paper to the card base and stamped the greeting from Hello Bluebird (Typed Christmas) in Versafine black ink. Then glued the merry/joy over the torn edge and coated them with black glossy Nuvo drops.

This card will fill the Timeout Challenge inspiration photo, CAS(E) This Sketch and a CAS design for the Less is More Challenge. Thanks for stopping by, Sue.

SSS Wednesday Challenge: Thinking of You

I am so honored again to serve as a guest designer on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog. This week we will be using Simon's own products to create a "Thinking of You" card. 

I started with a Tim Holtz water color panel then added a wash of tan water color paint to the bottom of it with a wide brush. Then added a darker brown wash over the tan towards the bottom. After letting it dry I used Score Tape in both the 1/8" and 1/4" applied to the dry panel and coated with black glitter. I die cut four of the Sweet Tulip Die from Simon Says Stamp out of Neenha 110 solar white card stock and glued them together. Completing the card with a SSS Sentiment Strips 2 cut and mounted to card front with Darice foam strips.

My next card is uses the Sending Happy Thoughts set from Simon Says Stamp. Using a Versafine black, red and green ink on a top-folding Neenha 110 lb white card base. I added a little red Nuvo Glitter drops over the little heart.

For this card I started with a Bristol Smooth panel that I masked with Post-It tape and blended four colors of orchid ink to fade out completely. I used blender brushes to do this. Stamping the wreath and greeting with eggplant ink and the "Sending" with Versamark ink then heat embossing with gold detail embossing powder. I trimmed the panel down and mounted to a top folding white card base popping up the "happy thoughts" with foam tape.

CASology #355: Appreciate

Hello. First I want to thank you and tell you how much I appreciate you and the time you spend to come to my blog. The CASology Challenge Blog 

has a new cue card this morning.

My card was made with rustic cream card stock and a Stampin' Up set, Country Blessings from 2006. The ink used was Late November Kalidacolor ink pad for both the images and greeting. By doing all the layers in the same color card stock. It gives the illusion of space.

25 Days of Christmas Tags: Day 2

Hey there. Tracey McNeely over on the In My Creative Opinion blog is doing a super, fun Christmas tag hop each day for 25 days. Today I will be adding a little inspiration from the one and only Ellen Hutson LLC.

Several month's ago when the Essentials by Ellen set Holiday Characters came out I knew I had to have it. The versatility of this set and dies blew me away. I also used the Wonky Backdrops for the tags. All the images were stamped and cut from 110 lb white cardstock and colored with alcohol markers. Images were attached to tags with foam tape. Greetings are all from Kerri Bradford Studio.
