Bring Something Back

Hey there! I am doing a guest design over at the Simply Less is More challenge blog. I was so honored to be asked.
The challenge was to bring back something from your stash. I went way, way back as in my very first stamp set. I am kind of amazed I still own it. lol  The set is a Stampin' Up set Lovely as a Tree.  It is dated 2001. I also dug out my brayer and a Kalidacolor ink pad. I started with a piece of Bristol cardstock cut 4.25 by 11". I stamped the trees in Versamark ink and heat embossed in clear detail powder. Then I cut a circle mask and layed it over the trees.
Leaving the individual ink sections apart I inked the brayer and blended the color by moving the brayer over the cardstock. The embossed trees resisted the color.

After carefully removing the inky mask I used a water brush to soften the edge of the circle. I finally inked the greeting in navy ink and stamped it on the front. Tada, single layer card with some very old supplies.

Thanks so much LIM for asking me to guest design and for all of you for stopping by, Sue.

  1. Isn't it funny how we hang on to our first purchases. I can see why you kept this one, those trees are lovely and so useful to have in your stash. I love the design with the brayered circle of highlight. And the font of the sentiment is lovely too. Great having you with us for this challenge, Sue xx

  2. Well, the stamp may indeed be old but you've brought it right up-to-date on this fab card Sue. That is such a neat trick, softening the edge of the masked circle (I must remember that one). Kalidacolors...yes, those type of inks are another thing we don't seem to use enough now. Thank you so much for being a wonderful guest designer for us. xx

  3. Love the subtle effect you created by leaving the clear embossed image on the card...a great idea and one I'd never have considered. Beautiful.
